The Role:
Banking Financial Services Consulting team is looking for a Senior Consultant to join. As a Senior Business Analyst in Trade Surveillance, you will be responsible for evaluating, enhancing, and supporting surveillance systems and processes to ensure the integrity of trading activities and compliance with regulatory standards. You will work closely with stakeholders in trading, risk management, compliance, and technology teams to deliver innovative solutions that support surveillance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Work on the analysis and improvement of trade surveillance processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., FINRA, SEC, MiFID II, etc.)
· Collaborate with traders, risk managers, compliance officers, and technology teams to define business requirements for surveillance systems and tools
· Provide subject matter expertise on trade surveillance issues, offering recommendations to enhance detection algorithms and reporting procedures
· Conduct in-depth investigations into flagged trade activities and market behaviors, providing detailed analysis and reports
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of surveillance activities with business and regulatory objectives
· Manage and prioritize business requirements, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of projects
· Assist in the design, testing, and implementation of new surveillance technologies and tools
· Monitor emerging regulatory trends and industry best practices to ensure the company’s surveillance strategies remain effective and compliant
· Train and mentor junior analysts on surveillance processes and best practices
Required Skills & Qualifications:
· Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA) are a plus
· 5 years of experience in a business analyst role, preferably within financial services, focusing on trade surveillance or financial crime detection
· Strong understanding of trade surveillance tools and techniques, including algorithmic trading, market manipulation, insider trading, and market abuse detection
· Experience with regulatory frameworks and compliance standards related to financial markets (e.g., SEC, CFTC, FINRA, MiFID II)
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with attention to detail and a focus on results
· Proficiency with data analysis tools, SQL, and Microsoft Office Suite
· Experience in Agile or similar project management methodologies is a plus.
Required Qualifications:
1. Education & Experience:
· Familiarity with trade surveillance platforms (e.g., Actimize, Mantas, etc.)
· Strong knowledge of financial markets, instruments, and trading strategies
· Experience working with large data sets and leveraging data analytics to support surveillance operations
2. Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of regulatory reporting frameworks and financial reporting standards
- Strong Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
- Familiarity with SQL for data extraction and analysis
- Familiarity with software testing tools and methodologies (e.g., JIRA, Selenium)
