What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Services Tech position at Yadkin County Government?
Essential Job Functions
· The position located within the Child Welfare unit is primarily responsible for transporting children and adults of all ages to various appointments and meetings. This includes both in county and out of county travel and requires that all clients are transported in a safe and timely manner. Job duties would also include assisting Social Work staff with scheduling appointments and visitations, documenting work with clients, and recordkeeping. This position is responsible for maintaining a calendar of their daily activities and disseminating that to Social Work staff for scheduling purposes. Given the nature of this position, the Human Services Technician must also be able to relay information in a professional and accurate way as they interface with agency staff, clients and community providers. The ability to multitask and prioritize job assignments is required. This position is responsible for coordinating maintenance on agency vehicles and maintaining documentation. Maintaining inventory of agency car seats (including expiration dates, recalls, purchasing as needed, etc.). Perform other job duties as assigned.
· The position within the Adult Services unit is primarily responsible for providing Level I In-Home Aide services to clients as determined by the Agency including transporting adults to appointments, general housekeeping and other services to enable clients to meet their needs in their own homes. Duties also include is transporting disabled and/or elderly adults to various providers in the community including medical appointments, grocery shopping, pharmacies, etc. This includes both in county and out of county travel and requires that all clients are transported in a safe and timely manner. Job duties would also include assisting Social Work staff with scheduling appointments, documenting work with clients, and recordkeeping. This position is responsible for maintaining a calendar of their daily activities and disseminating that to Social Work staff for scheduling purposes. Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Working Conditions
- Physical capability to sit/drive for extended periods of time and lift/load items such as car seats and small children into a vehicle.
- Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions (including heat, cold, rain, etc.).
Hours of Work - Generally, Monday- Friday from 8am-5pm.
Workplace Requirements:
- Ability to transport people in a timely and safe manner
- Car Seat Installation for Child Welfare Unit; Physical capability to sit/drive for extended periods of time and lift/load items such as wheelchairs and walkers into a vehicle.
- Must be self-motivated and be able to adjust to a dynamic work environment.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
Special Notes Concerning This Position
- A background check, drug screen and motor vehicle report will be required prior to hire.
- The duties of this position may also include assistance with sheltering operations and working medical counter measure events during natural disasters and public health emergencies.
- Current safety certifications/trainings (Car Seat Safety, CPR/First Aid) as training opportunities becomes available.
- The Child Welfare position requires worker to be able to track and monitor spending within the Child Welfare Unit.
- ICS Trainings (100, 200, 700 and 800) must be completed within 90 days of hire.
- Child Passenger Safety Tech Certification within one year
