We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Scale Operator to join our team. As a Quarry Scale Operator, you will be responsible for operating scales and weighing equipment to accurately measure and record the quantities of materials extracted from the quarry. Your role is crucial in ensuring precise measurement of materials for inventory management, invoicing, and regulatory compliance. Attention to detail, proficiency in operating scales and related equipment, and adherence to safety protocols are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Operate scales and weighing equipment to accurately measure and record the quantities of materials, such as gravel, sand, and stone, extracted from the quarry. Ensure that materials are weighed correctly according to established procedures and standards.
  • Record material weights and maintain accurate records of material extraction and inventory levels. Update inventory databases and systems with the latest information on material quantities to facilitate inventory management and planning.
  • Monitor material quality and ensure compliance with specifications and standards. Conduct visual inspections of materials to identify any abnormalities or impurities that may affect quality or suitability for use.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to material weighing and inventory tracking, including weigh tickets, delivery receipts, and material inventory reports. Ensure that all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with quarry personnel, truck drivers, and other stakeholders to coordinate material weighing and loading activities. Provide accurate weight information to truck drivers and ensure that loads are within legal weight limits.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. Conduct regular inspections of scales and weighing equipment to identify and address any safety hazards or malfunctions.
  • Provide excellent customer service to truck drivers and other visitors to the quarry-scale house. Address any inquiries or concerns related to material weighing and loading in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on scales and weighing equipment to ensure proper functionality and accuracy. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel for timely resolution.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience operating scales and weighing equipment preferred.
  • Familiarity with quarry operations and materials preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measuring and recording material quantities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with quarry personnel and truck drivers.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to scale operations.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
