We are hiring for our Full-Time Assistant Behavior Intervention Specialist position at our City Line 1 & 2 IRAs.

Job Description

The ABIS works directly with people in their home, work, and daily lives in varying capacities. An ABIS must have previously worked as a Direct Support Professional, completed all the required trainings, and demonstrated all the knowledge, skills, and accountabilities of a DSP Level three. The ABIS position blends together the DSP role and the clinical leadership role. Clinical leadership under the supervision of the BIS includes educating team members on habilitation and Behavior Support Plans, assisting with clinical assessments, ensuring data collection, and providing direct feedback and education to all team members.

City Line 1 (on the first floor) provides a home for 5 innovative adults, both women and men. The people supported at City Line are embraced by a wonderful, caring, professional team who are trained to support their daily needs. The people are dual diagnosed and medically fragile, however, it doesn’t impede them from enjoying life. Three out of the five people ambulate in a wheelchair and most of them need hand over hand support. The people attend recreational activities such as watching movies, going bowling, and visiting parks. They also enjoy spending time with their family and traveling out of the state for vacations, which staff support them with planning & attending. We are seeking candidates who embraces flexibility, accountability, team work, and professionalism.

City Line 2 (on the second floor) provides a home for 4 adult males with dual diagnosis, which includes behaviors. One out of the four men ambulates with a walker. The people enjoy playing instruments, and attending activities & festivals in the community. The people supported at City Line 2 make independent purchases and complete banking weekly. They also enjoy spending time with family and traveling for vacations. Their involvement within the community leaves an everlasting positive impression with everyone they come in contact with. We are seeking candidates that are innovative, energetic, caring, supportive, and professional.

Schedule:

  • Full-Time, Sunday - Thursday

  • City Line 1: Sunday - Monday 3:00pm - 11:00pm

  • Paperwork day: Tuesday 11:00am - 7:00pm

  • City Line 2: Wednesday - Thursday 3:00pm - 11:00pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide direct care services as needed. This includes, but is not limited to, the provision of direct counseling, implementation of each individual’s treatment plan, training in ADL skills, assistance with personal care, medical, dietary, social, sexual, recreational, financial, habilitative and other needs within the program.

  • To train staff, which includes, but is not limited to, using the EMOE training system to ensure that all clinical interventions are properly implemented, to communicate clinical rationales to the staff, to provide staff with both formal and informal feedback, and role model at all times appropriate tone, implementing of habilitative and behavioral programming, and appropriate data collection techniques.

  • To role model the use of person-centered philosophy and person-centered tools.

  • To develop written, individualized habilitative plans in accordance with the agency philosophy, as determined by individual need.

  • To conduct assessments, both behavioral and habilitative, via formal means (written questionnaires, rating scales, baseline data, etc.) and informal means (observations), under the supervision of the BIS.

  • To design effective data collection systems that allows progress to be monitored.

  • To monitor the data collection, ensure that the data is totaled and summarized on a monthly basis, and that new data sheets are accessible to staff at the beginning of each month.

  • To oversee/maintain the completion of all required paperwork, including monthlies, Person-Centered materials, and ensure that all pertinent information is included on psychiatric anecdotals.

  • To provide the appropriate therapeutically documented level of an individual’s supervision to ensure and protect the individual’s health/safety and well-being. Whenever this level is unclear or unknown, to provide the maximum level of supervision to assure and protect the individual’s health and safety.

  • To train new staff on Level 1 competencies.

  • Be a Resource to staff by providing clinical support in absence of the BIS/Supervisor

  • Be the lead trainer of weekend staff on clinical interventions.

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS Degree in Psychology or Human Services OR Enrolled in 4-year degree in Psychology or Human Services field

  • Experience working within the field of I/DD

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exceptional interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills

  • Willing to take initiative

  • Highly flexible to varied work schedule

  • Experience in computer skills and ability to teach others

  • Strong writing ability

  • Must demonstrate assertiveness/leadership skills

  • Must demonstrate clinical skills.

Compensation:

  • $22.37 - $22.37 / hour
