Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential support to individuals with disabilities in their daily lives, in our Bayside Day Program.
Day programs at YAI offer people with disabilities a ready-made peer community that engages in skills-building, recreation, and volunteer activities in the neighborhood. They also provide easy access to other forms of support and a pathway to pre-vocational and employment training. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients, promoting independence, and fostering a supportive environment.
Duties
- Assist clients with personally designed goals and plans aimed at increasing overall independence, and increasing tactile skills.
- Provide oversight and monitoring to ensure the health and safety of individuals under care.
- Support clients in engaging with their communities through social activities and outings.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's specific needs, including those with dementia or requiring hospice care.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and communicate effectively with family members and healthcare professionals.
- Foster a positive and respectful relationship with clients, promoting their dignity and independence.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic support for clients with varying levels of disabilities.
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8am -4pm

Experience
- Previous experience in patient care or working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Familiarity with dementia care, hospice care, and long-term care practices is highly desirable.
- Skills in cooking and providing nutritional support are beneficial for assisting clients in meal preparation.
- A background in nursing or related healthcare fields can enhance the effectiveness of this role.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment are essential for success as a Direct Support Professional.

Pay: $16.78 - $18.31 per hour
