Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Intervention Specialist to join our team at YAI. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional support and care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide behavioral interventions and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, promoting their independence, self-advocacy, and overall well-being.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring a comprehensive and person-centered approach to care.
- Lead and participate in team meetings, providing updates and insights to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
- Conduct regular observations and assessments to identify areas of strength and need, informing the development of targeted interventions and support strategies.
- Provide training and guidance to direct care staff, promoting a culture of excellence and adherence to YAI's standards of care.
- Participate in the development and implementation of behavior support plans, ensuring a thorough understanding of behavior as communication and the effective use of person-centered thinking.
- Assist in the collection and analysis of data, informing the development of treatment plans and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a closely related field.
- At least six months of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, preferably in a group or individual setting.
- Formal training in crisis intervention and prevention, CPR, and medication administration.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm and composed in stressful situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in computer systems, including email and electronic documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a clinical or treatment field.
- Two or more years of experience working in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
