What are the responsibilities and job description for the Computer Science Teacher position at YaizY?
IDEAL TEACHING CANDIDATE
- Consistently deliver inspiring, meaningful learning experiences to students in a virtual or hybrid environment
- Demonstrate expertise in and visible enthusiasm for the subject content area
- Effectively prepare for and actively lead lessons
- Collaborate well with team members, school resources, and instructional coaches
- Engages with a growth mindset on how to improve (using evidence, student data, qualitative measures) with regular YaizY coaching and professional development.
Key Qualifications
- A degree in Computer Science, or a related field is preferred
- Previous experience teaching in this field, preferably at the middle or high school level
- Previous experience teaching computer science - including a track record of teaching engaging and high-quality online/hybrid learning experiences for 20 to 30 U.S. secondary students
- Experience providing outcomes-based actionable feedback that helps students improve their engagement, learning, and motivation
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and how to design inclusive learning experiences for all learners
- English-language proficiency
- Background check clearance: fingerprinting check, FBI, state/local, sex offender, social security checks, state-specific credential verifications
- A reliable computer device, workspace conducive to teaching, high-speed internet connection, and general tech proficiency with interactive educational tools
- A Computer Science CTE teaching credential is preferred
COMPENSATION
- $50 per hour starting pay
- Independent contractor
- *Hours may vary but can average 2 to 6 hours total per week based on YaizY’s school and partner schedules – with the potential to grow into full-time employment in the next school year
