Department: Yakima County Treasurer's Office
Pay Range: $31.62 - $40.10 per hour (AFSCME-87 Pay Plan, C41 Step 1-13)
Hiring Range: $31.62 - $33.56 per hour (AFSCME-87 Pay Plan, C41 Step 1-4 DOQ)
Closing Date: April 2, 2025

The Yakima County Treasurer’s Office is seeking a qualified candidate for an Accountant I position. This role performs professional-level accounting activities that directly impact the revenue and debt management of County departments, agencies, and districts. The position includes responsibilities such as financial analysis, cash and investment management, and technical support for the Treasurer’s Office programs. The Accountant I also serves as a lead resource to technical staff on financial operations.

A Microsoft Word and Excel assessment will be administered at the time of the interview.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential job duties.
  • Experience in auditing and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel/Spreadsheet programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with one year of experience is preferred over an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a criminal background investigation
  • Successful completion of a General Employment Verification
