Yakima Valley College seeks innovative adjunct Dental Hygiene Clinical Instructors for the Yakima Campus committed to community college students and their success. This position is part-time, non-tenure track.
Reporting to the Dean – Workforce Education, the adjunct Clinical Instructor will be culturally competent with commitment and expertise in working with diverse populations, utilize appropriate technology in the classroom and to the extent reasonably possible, be up-to-date on the latest trends in Dental Hygiene. We value opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, utilize cooperative learning, and apply various technologies in the classroom for distance delivery of instruction where applicable. All faculty are engaged in the assessment of college goals and purposes.JOB PROFILE:
- The primary responsibility of this position is to teach clinical courses in Dental Hygiene for the Bachelor of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene degree at YVC.
- Additional responsibilities include a commitment to systematic classroom/department/college assessment and improvement, preparation of class materials, course and curriculum planning, and availability for student consultation outside of class on a daily basis.
- Other responsibilities include maintenance of high expectations for students, ordering textbooks and audiovisual materials, assessment and evaluation of individual student progress, maintenance of student records, referring students to other appropriate college staff as necessary, and demonstration of student-centered values consistent with the community college philosophy.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Dental Hygiene or closely related field
- Current and relevant dental/dental hygiene practice, two year minimum
- Eligibility for professional technical certification in the State of Washington
- Must have an active, unencumbered Washington State RDH license or DDS license
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a closely related field
- Demonstrated successful teaching experience
- Evidence of sensitivity to understanding the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
