SALARY : 920.00 per Instructional Unit (IU) Maximum of 10 IU's per quarter Yakima Valley College seeks an innovative adjunct Medical Assisting Lab Instructor in the Allied Health Department. This position is part-time, non-tenure track.Reporting to the Dean - Workforce Education, the Medical Assisting Lab Instructor demonstrates a commitment and expertise in working with diverse populations, utilizes appropriate technology in the classroom, and has a record as a successful teacher demonstrating strong promise as a contributing member of the Workforce Education Division. The Medical Assisting Lab Instructor values opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations, finds ways to utilize cooperative learning, and utilizes various technologies in the classroom and for distance delivery of instruction.JOB PROFILE :
- Prepare and teach courses as assigned within Allied Health Technology programs.
- Update Allied Health Technology Programs (AHT) curriculum as required by the institution to meet industry needs.
- Follow college policy, process and procedure to maintain compliance with national accrediting agencies and state and federal requirements.
- Must maintain eligibility for vocational certification in the State of Washington WAC 131-16-092 - 095.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Qualification with appropriate training and certification as one of the following : Medical Assistant, MA-C, LPN, or RN
- Three years of recent employment in a healthcare field
- Eligible for vocational certification in the State of Washington WAC 131-16-092 - 095PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- An earned Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
- Experience teaching via Distance Education modes (online courses, interactive TV courses, etc.)
- Experience teaching at the community college level.
- Experience teaching Allied Health courses.
- Experience developing curriculum.
- Ability to communicate knowledge and skills in both oral and written forms to students who represent a broad spectrum of ages, abilities, ethnicity, education, and cultural backgrounds.
- Proven ability to work with the community and health care providers to create training and curriculum to meet the workforce needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
