Yakima Valley Community College is accepting applications for an Instructional & Classroom Support Technician 1 in the College & Career Readiness (CCR) Department. This is a cyclic, in person, working eleven (11) months, 80 % of full-time classified position, beginning salary is $2,850.12 per month for 32 hours per week, with periodic increments up to $3,794.28, plus a full state benefits package.
Reporting to the Dean of College & Career Readiness, under general supervision the Instructional & Classroom Support Technician 1 will assist in preparing materials and equipment for use in a shop, classroom, or laboratory; setting up, maintaining, and operating equipment in accordance with standardized procedures or instructions received from academic or supervisory personnel; assisting students in course work assignments, individualized, and group instruction for development of learning skills such as reading, study skills, or other instructional areas; assisting instructors in presenting course material; and administering and scoring tests.
Duties are performed in a clinical environment. Lengthy periods of computer work may be necessary to complete assignments. The Instructional & Classroom Support Technician 1 is required to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment. The Instructional & Classroom Support Technician 1 is required to work with diverse students, faculty, and staff populations in an efficient and professional manner. Must be able to bend, stoop, and sit for extended periods. Occasional lifting of packages up to 25 pounds may be required.
Prepare materials for use in undergraduate classrooms, laboratories or instructional shops. Set up assignments, equipment, or demonstration apparatus for classes; service and maintain equipment. Maintain storage area. Receive materials and supplies used in classes and store for future use; assist instructors in demonstration of tools, equipment, machinery, apparatus and materials. Modify equipment, materials and programs as required for individual instructors. Assist students and instructors in selecting correct tools and materials; assist in setup and operation as required. Assist instructor with lecture and laboratory material; confer with instructor in establishing and developing assignments. Perform related duties as required.
Bilingual/biliterate: English/Spanish. Six months to two years of full-time experience/training in the appropriate discipline. OR Equivalent education/experience.
Experience working in a classroom setting dealing with diverse groups of people. Possess above average computer skills, using MS Office, MS Windows.
