Yakima Valley College is accepting applications for one Library Archival ParaProfessional 3: Circ/Electronic Resources Manager in the Office of the Vice President for Instruction and Student Services – Library and Media Services. This is a full-time, permanent, classified position.
Reporting to the Director – Library and Media Services, the LAPP 3 Circ and Electronic Resources Manager is responsible for the smooth management of library databases and electronic tools.
ESSENTIAL TASKS
- Develop procedures and documentation for the maintenance all aspects of online library resources and vendor settings/configurations.
- Oversee system administration duties for library systems and applications including Alma/Primo, LibGuides CMS, Gimlet, other various online tools.
- Track streaming media licenses.
- Work with faculty and students to resolve problems and concerns in accordance with established Library/Media procedures.
- Supervise tracking and processing student overdue and lost materials and related fines and fees, including preparation of documentation to send to the YVC Business Office.
- Troubleshoot electronic resources access problems.
- With Reference Librarians evaluate web technologies for possible library application.
- Create training materials, user guides for library staff and users.
- Support circulation activities.
- Generate monthly and annual usage statistics and application-specific reports.
- Comply with copyright law and practice and advise faculty and staff regarding copyright law and practice as it applies to duplication and presentation of media materials, in consultation with the Library Director.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduation.
One year of experience as a Media Assistant 1.
OR equivalent education/experience.
ABILITY TO:
Work collaboratively and effectively with diverse faculty, staff, students, and community to create a positive environment.
Keep current on a quickly changing landscape of electronic resources.
Be able to communicate the department’s process to students, staff, and faculty.
Troubleshoot issues that keep students from effectively using library electronic tool.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience using an automated library system.
One-year previous work experience in a library.
Experience working in a higher education environment.
Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.
Working knowledge of ticketing issue tracking, and bug reporting.
Customer service experience.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
General knowledge of library circulation functions.
General knowledge of library procedures, equipment and record keeping.
Alpha and numeric systems for arranging library materials.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged and considerable amounts of time.
