What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trainer - Job Skills Program (OPEN TO YVC EMPLOYEES ONLY) position at Yakima Valley College?
This trainer position is contingent upon ongoing grant funding.
Reporting to the Director - WorkFirst, the Trainer - Job Skills Programs (JSP) position is stationed at the Yakima Campus. The JSP Trainer will be responsible for training JSP students in one of the requested areas of specialization. The trainer will have strong oral and written communication skills. The successful applicant(s) will work specifically with the WorkFirst Director, JSP Coordinator, and Staff to develop and provide specialized training to the employees of business partners in the Yakima Valley.
Occasional travel is required and the training schedule will be determined in collaboration with the business partner. JOB PROFILE:
- Plan, implement, and monitor training for individuals and groups
- Develop outline, training plans, and schedules prior to the start of classes
- Accurately complete, maintain, and submit student and class records in a timely manner
- Maintain consistent communication with JSP Coordinator regarding training status and student learning
- Direct classroom or student assistance as needed
- Collect and track student sign-in sheets and review for accuracy
- Coordinate with WorkFirst Program Assistant to submit sign-in sheets, schedule classroom, equipment set-up, technology requirements, etc.
- Conduct pre and post-training assessment activities with company representatives and students
- Travel to Business Partner Facilities within Yakima County as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Associate's degree in business or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, or Credentials/Certification in the field of specialization
- Valid Driver's License
- Reliable Transportation
- One (1) year experience teaching adults
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum
- Experience developing or teaching business industry-specific classes
- Strong oral and written communication skills
