- Manages the maintenance, cleaning and sterilization of Mobile Units according to guidelines and manufacturer's specifications.
- Ensures staff are trained on Mobile Unit safety procedures, proper use of equipment, and infection control protocols.
- Maintains Mobile Unit garage and storage area cleanliness, tools, and equipment.
- Drives the Mobile Unit on a daily basis to clinics, community outreach events, health fairs, and parades.
- Monitors and maintains security of equipment, patients / clients, and employees in the Mobile Unit.
- Reconciles cash box on a daily basis.
- Registers patients, updates chart and records in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) / Electronic Dental Record (EDR) to include patient medical / dental history, BHP information and vital signs as needed.
- Initiates and routes encounter forms on all patients and provides information including statistics for dental and medical services, and migrant physicals.
- Assists in implementing and monitoring the patient infection control program for the mobile unit, including ensuring integrity of sterile packaging, sterilizing instruments / equipment and cleaning autoclaves.
- Sets up and records periodontal charting per Provider's instruction. Explains procedure to patient.
- Prepares and sets up instruments and equipment necessary for the exam performed by the Provider.
- Provides education and counsel for patients in oral hygiene.
- Performs dental procedures to include coronal polish, application of fluoride treatment and sealants.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and YVFWC requirements.Qualifications :
- Minimum high school diploma or GED.
- One year's experience as a Dental Assistant or Medical Assistant.
- Operating and maintaining vehicles preferred.
- Valid Driver's License and proof of automobile liability insurance coverage.
- Class A or B Washington State Commercial Driver's License required.
- Dental Assistant registration (Washington only) within 90 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
- Have or obtain a medical assisting credential within 180 days of hire.
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) required. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate at level 10 on the ALTA language proficiency scale to receive bilingual differential pay. Knowledge of dental anatomy. Knowledge of medical and dental terminology is preferred. Knowledge of in dental materials and instruments. Knowledge of oral health care instruction. Strong customer relations skills. Skills in problem-solving, sound judgement and conflict resolution. Strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize work and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously, with frequent interruptions. Basic proficiency with a variety of computer programs, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
