Position Summary:
This position is responsible for responsible facilitating wellness activities and open gym, including ensuring participant compliance with the established rules and code of conduct in order to provide a safe and fun environment for the participants.
This position requires compliance with Health Center’s compliance standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the position’s regular performance evaluation.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor gym at all times.
- Greet participants and keep accurate attendance of participation in wellness events and all open gym days.
- Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and proper function of the facility; will perform custodial duties as needed, including cleaning and sanitizing the facility and equipment in accordance with YCHC procedures and universal precautions protocol.
- Ensures COVID-19 mitigation and screening protocols are in place and adhered to as required for all wellness activities/events.
- Collects money, makes changes, and operates cash register.
- Provides patrons with information and assistance; familiarize participants of gym rules and regulations.
- Hold patrons accountable when not following gym rules.
- Perform set-up and clean-up responsibilities for the program.
- Communicate times of wellness activities/open gym and make sure participants are out of the gym at the end of the program.
- Opens and closes facility when assigned.
- Maintains equipment and supply inventory.
- Makes copies; sends and receives faxes.
- Provide first aid supplies to participants injured during activity. Complete accident/incident reports in their entirety and submit within 24 hours of the incident.
- Maintain a game wait list when gym is busy.
- Keep supervisor informed of participation numbers.
- Communicate with supervisor on a regular basis to keep an update on program and any issues that arise during open gym days.
- Inspects facility and reports unsafe conditions.
- Completes incident and accident reports.
- Delivers CPR and first aid as needed.
- Must comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Performs related duties.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity. The employee must be able to read, write, speak and hear.
The work is typically performed in a gymnasium. The employee is exposed to noise.
Supervisory and Management Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibility or authority.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Less than one (1) year of responsible work experience.
- Background and knowledge of sports to ensure fair play.
- CPR and first aid certification.
- Full COVID-19 vaccination required unless a documented medical or religious exemption is approved.
- Must successfully pass a National and State Criminal background check.
