Responsibilities
1.Examines patients, obtains medical histories and treats acute and chronic illnesses using up to date
evidence-based guidelines
2. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic tests as appropriate using up to date evidence-based guidelines
3.Involves patients and their families in treatment decisions and care using language and terminology they can
understand
4. Acts in a positive and professional manner, complying with practice policies, procedures and federal and
state laws
5. Uphold the hospital's guiding principle of providing superior medical care and education
6.Oversee anesthetic procedures to ensure they are in line with best practices, and continue to assess risk
throughout procedures
7. Exercise fair and ethical medical judgment
8. Adhere to medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and Code of Conduct.
9. Provide anesthesiology and pain management services to patients as directed or required
Communicate with patients and families throughout the entire surgical process, including preparation, surgery, and recovery
10. 11. Mentor students and residents on various procedures as warranted
12. Provides clinical information and consultation to the interdisciplinary team in a clear and timely manner
13.Performs medical procedures and clinical care appropriate to experience, licensure and certification using
evidence-based quality and safety standards
14. Efficiently uses group practice and healthcare resources
15. Promotes health education in conjunction with other health professionals
16.Provide appropriate supervision to ancillary personnel including Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) providingincident to services to the physician
Execute collaborative agreements with assigned APCs.
17. Follows NEMG practice standards for patient access
18. Provide on-call coverage as assigned
19.Ensures that proper patient documentation is timely, accurate and complete in a manner consistent with the
policies of NEMG, hospital policies, hospital by laws, applicable law and regulations, and the requirements of
third party payers
20. Works with practice management, compliance and revenue cycle to ensure proper compliance with billing, coding and CPT code assignment
21. Participates in annual evaluation process and internal training
22.Participates in the development of medical protocols, standard procedures and management of
patient care-related activities
23. Contributes to quality improvement activities by actively participating in the medical staff activities , serving on
various committees and suggesting and supporting process improvements
24. Insures clinic practice follows evidenced-based standards
25. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
MD required. Completion of a residency training program in anesthesiology and being board certified or board eligible is required
EXPERIENCE:
N/A
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Possess and maintain a valid American Board certification- Anesthesiology
Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted CT medical license based on requirements of assigned hospital
Valid unrestricted DEA registration/license and Controlled Substance Certificate
Certification in ACLS, PALS, BLS are required
