**Job Overview:**
The Respiratory Care Practitioner Level I (RCP I) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care at Bridgeport Hospital.
Under medical direction, the RCP performs a variety of clinical activities in the assessment, treatment, and education of patients with respiratory problems.
Responsibilities include reviewing medical charts, conducting patient interviews, physical examinations, interpreting blood gases, accurately recording all care provided via electronic medical record, and identifying patient on written documents by using medical record number and patient labels as required by department and hospital policy.
**Essential Responsibilities:**
- Assess patient pulmonary status employing basic and advanced skills
- Record all care provided via electronic medical record
- Identify patient on written documents by using medical record number and patient labels
- Function as charge therapist upon request in absence of shift supervisor
**Required Qualifications:**
- Graduate of an AMA-Approved Program in Respiratory Care
- Licensed by the State of Connecticut as an RCP
- Recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Minimum one-year acute care experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner preferred
