Picks up specimens from outreach clients, (Doctor's offices, nursing homes, Clinics, etc.). Interacts with physicians and physician's office staff, Clinics, and other clients. Performs some clerical duties. Provides marketing support to the Laboratory Outreach Program.

1. General Duties
   1. Obtains specimens from physician's offices, clinic, nursing homes, etc and delivers them accordingly, while maintaining proper specimen integrety.
   2. Delivers reports, supplies to physicians offices, clinics ,nursing homes, etc.
   3. Responsible for timely pickup and delivery of STAT specimens.
   4. Maintains speciemen pickup log.
2. Other Duties
   1. Maintains supply inventory for external clients.
   2. Monitors drop-off sites for secure storage of specimens.
   3. Responsible for cleanliness of courier vehicle.
   4. Maintains a safe driving record.
3. Customer Service
   1. Is considerate, helpful and courteous to all internal and external customers.
   2. Continuously displays a positive attitude within the department and to external customers to contribute to the overall customer service program.
   3. Maintains a neat professional appearance, always wears hospital badge.
   4. Tries to resolve customer request at the initial phone call.

   1. Maintains open communication using appropraiate chain of command.
   2. Willingness to help co-worker.
   3. Conducts all work activity with respect for Patient/Family center values.
5. Regulation Compliance
   1. Complies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety.
   2. Complies with established safety policies for chemical handling, storage and disposal.
   3. Operates assigned equipment and performs all procedures in a safe manner as instructed.
   4. Ensure a safe work environment by complying with established procedures.

EDUCATION

High School Graduate.

EXPERIENCE

Courier or delivery experience preferred.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Ability to interact professionally with customers (patients, physicians, office staff, etc.) Excellent customer relations skills. Maintains confidentiality of all medical information. Maintain a high degree of professionalism through positive job performance, communication, and appearance. Valid drivers license and the ability to be covered by the Hospital's auto insurance required.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

Must have a current driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
