Responsibilities
- 1. Procedures:
- 1.1 Under supervision performs collection and preparation of oocytes for insemination to include oocyte microscopic identification, cleaning, distribution in dishes and insemination. Analysis and preparation of sperm specimen for insemination or for ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection). This includes analysis and processing of fresh and cryopreserved semen specimens as well as the processing of fresh and cryopreserved specimens surgically obtained by epidydimal aspiration or testis biopsy. Assessment of fertilization and zygote quality following insemination. Daily assessment/grading and handling of embryos through Day 6 of in vitro culture.
- 2. Advanced Procedures:
- 2.1 Under the direction of the supervisor, assists in data collection from patient charts, statistical analysis, data organization and presentation at institutional, local, national or international meetings.
- 3. Documentation:
- 3.1 Assists with performing various data elements.
- 4. Quality Control:
- 4.1 Monitors equipment reagents, media, and work environment by following quality control guidelines.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in a biological science.
EXPERIENCE
One years experience in a clinical laboratory setting performing basic embryology techniques prior to invitro fertilization preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Excellent written and communication skills with ability to interact with patients, staff and physicians.
