We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team on a per diem basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing laboratory specimens, both routine and specialized, and reporting results according to laboratory protocol and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Duties:
- Evaluate specimens for acceptability and perform all testing using current methods, instruments, and manual methods if applicable.
- Quality:
- Investigate and document problems with unacceptable specimens.
- Problem Solving:
- Follow established guidelines for troubleshooting instrument, reagent, or specimen problems.
- Regulation Compliance:
- Comply with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safety.
- Phlebotomy:
- Accurately perform phlebotomy (venipuncture, finger stick, heelstick) when requested or required by workload demand.
- People:
- Participate in staff meetings and help promote effective working relationships.
- Customer Service:
- Use Patient/Family Centered Values and conduct all work activities with respect for the rights and wishes of patients, visitors, and patients' families.
Qualifications:
We require an Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution or equivalent. Previous experience is preferred, and American Society of Clinical Pathologists certification (MLT-ASCP) is also highly valued.
Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
