Registered Nurse - Critical Care at Yale New Haven Health
We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team in the Critical Care department. The successful candidate will provide direct supervision and management of nursing care on the unit, ensuring adherence to established standards and regulations.
The ideal candidate will assess patient conditions, supervise nursing staff, and ensure effective communication with healthcare teams, families, and residents. They will be responsible for clinical evaluation, patient care plan development, and delivering high-quality nursing services in a compassionate and accountable manner.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Supervision: Directs and supervises the nursing care and all related activities on the unit, assigned according to the policies and procedures of Grimes Center and the State and Federal agents
- Clinical Evaluation: Conducts resident rounds, directs care for C.A.s and LPNs, and initiates corrective action and reporting issues/actions taken to nursing supervisor
- Patient Care Planning: Prepares and assigns nursing assistants' assignments and duties, provides clinical supervision of certified nursing assistants providing direct resident care, and gives direction to licensed practical nurses
- Documentation and Communication: Documents medications administered or refused, treatments given, wound care given, general nursing notes, and completes documentation related to the resident's admission, transfer or discharge
Requirements:
- A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or Science preferred
- At least one year of work experience in rehabilitative, psychiatric or geriatric nursing preferred
- A Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Connecticut
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain standards of care rendered at Grimes Center accordance with the State of Connecticut Public Health Code, the governing body of the facility and the State and Federal agencies
Skills and Qualities:
- Able to consistently work cooperatively with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, consultant personnel, community agencies and ancillary service providers
- Ability to observe all facility safety policies and procedures
- Ability to follow Resident's Rights policies at all times
- Knowledgeable and competent in basic nursing skills, including medication administration, treatment administration, and comprehensive assessment of each resident
Preferred Qualifications:
- Intravaginal physical therapy, Examination treatments, or procedures of or involving the external genitalia (inclusive of urinary catheterization); Examination, treatments, or procedures of the female patient
