The RN in Emergency Care is responsible for assessing patient conditions, providing education to patients and families, and assisting healthcare providers with procedures. This role involves overseeing non-RN personnel, ensuring compliance with hospital protocols, and maintaining a sterile environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patient's physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.
- Provide education to patients and family members, documenting plan provided, patient understanding, and outcomes.
- Assist healthcare providers with intra-office procedures, maintaining a sterile field and complying with Universal Protocol.
- Perform nursing duties, including physical, pain, and psychosocial assessments, documentation, vital signs, bladder scan, Uroflow, catheter insertion and removal, medication administration, and Point of Care Testing (POCT).
- Function as preceptor to new staff and charge nurse, meeting performance expectations for Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self Development.
