Position Focus :
Working closely under the supervision of the Division Administrator, this position will support the Divisions of Otolaryngology and Pediatrics within the Department of Surgery. This position will manage the day-to-day supervision of staff and support the operations of the division's business and clinical units. The business manager will also support and coordinate projects as needed.
Essential Duties
1. Develops and oversees execution of operational goals, objectives, practice and procedures. Contributes to the development of policies. 2. Supervises day-to-day activities of support staff. Responsible for staff performance management and evaluation and for workforce planning. 3. Evaluates work requests to determine if they are appropriate to unit; ensures that work flow is organized and unit is staffed for quality efficient completion. 4. Assess available options and identify and implement solutions to financial, administrative and technical issues; ensure consistent application of solutions within the policies and practices of the University and the unit. 5. Participates in long and short-range planning for work unit needs. 6. Develops, implements, and manages a training metrics system to track unit performance. 7. Develops and maintains budgets. 8. Interacts with University personnel to define work assignments and requirements and to plan and coordinate projects. 9. Interacts with external sources to manage work necessary to fulfill projects, keep abreast of new products and technologies, or arrange for subcontractors. 10. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s Degree in related field and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skill / Ability 1 :
Experienced lead or supervisor with thorough knowledge of access centers, EPIC scheduling, clinical workflows, and administrative processes. Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Required Skill / Ability 2 :
Proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to establish priorities and follow through on projects, paying close attention to detail with minimal supervision to complete assignments under time constraints.
Required Skill / Ability 3 :
Demonstrated organizational, planning, decision-making and problem-solving skills. Proficient in framing a problem, identifying, and evaluating potential solutions, developing a plan of action and evaluating the effectiveness of the course of action. Ability to be a decisive, hands-on team player.
Required Skill / Ability 4 :
Well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to form strong working relationships with faculty, staff, leadership and other stakeholders. Managing these relationships on a day to day basis with the ability to influence them in a positive manner along with inspiring a high level of performance and commitment. Self-directed and self-starter.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills :
Master’s Degree and 10 years of Healthcare Experience.
