Position Focus :
The Associate Properties Supervisor reports to the David Geffen School of Drama / Yale Repertory Theatre (DGSD / YRT) Properties Supervisor. Duties include : Assist in developing and implements properties department procedures, policies, paperwork, and workflow. Assist in coordinating, supervising and evaluating the work of staff and interns. Assist in supervising and coordinating the efficient load‐in, strike, and changeover in all performance venues in accordance with published production schedule. Assist in establishing annual properties department budgets. Collaborate with appropriate staff and designers in establishment of show‐specific properties budgets. Maintain and monitor expense budgets.
In coordination with the Properties Supervisor, the Associate Properties Supervisor will attend budget meetings, production meetings, technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals and notes sessions as necessary. Assures the adequate supply of materials and expendables needed to create props for productions. Oversees the properties inventory tracking systems. Assists in overseeing staff in maintaining the safety and efficiency of all shop operations. Assists in overseeing maintenance and repair of properties equipment, storage facilities, and workspaces. Assists in overseeing the weapons collection and supervises the maintenance of weapons. Performs various craft tasks, as assigned by Properties Supervisor. Works occasional nights, weekends and holidays. May teach in area(s) of expertise. May perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties
1. Assumes primary responsibility for a program, service, activity, operation or function in an assigned area. Develops objectives, practice and procedure and identifies resources to ensure accomplishment of operational goals. 2. Coordinates day-to-day operations in order to achieve designated goals. Ensures effective management and leads the development and implementation of best practices. 3. Designs and implements quality control metrics to identify areas of risk. Analyzes, recommends, and implements strategic solutions to minimize risk. 4. Develops a variety of complex report and other written materials. 5. Provides guidance to and collaboration with internal and external partners as necessary. 6. Develops, oversees and monitors budgets. 7. Develops and maintains specialized training. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s Degree in related field and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience.

Demonstrated experience in budgeting, expense tracking and management experience in a theatrical environment. Ability to work independently and in a team setting. Knowledge of job-related health and safety issues; ability to identify potential hazards. Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
Required Skill / Ability 5 :
Demonstrated knowledge, with high standards in regard to production values, in multiple areas of prop construction including but not limited to sewing, upholstery, carpentry, carving, mold making and sculpting, and prop special effects. Valid driver's license required.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills :
Three or more years of experience strongly preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat and Photo editing software. MFA in theatre. Pistol permit and / or demonstrated experience with stage weaponry.
