Position Focus :
We are looking for a motivated, experienced individual with a passion for producing results in a complex and fast paced computing environment. This position will focus on following operational procedures and processes derived from existing tools for monitored events with close attention to operational efficiencies. The individual will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining data center infrastructure, computing and network devices. The individual will coordinate and implement shift activities / tasks under the direction of the DC Operations Manager. This individual must be able to think logically and provide problem-solving skills with problem resolution and follow-up. At the end of the training period, this individual will have hands-on Data Center experience with respect to DC operations and systems monitoring including hardware maintenance, daily production schedule, IP / DNS and CNAME management, metric / reporting, and departmental application tool maintenance.
Responsibilities Include :
Follow written policies and procedures in accordance with established processes on all matters pertaining to Data Center Operations.
Escalate reported issues in accordance with departmental Event Resolution process.
Monitors, operates, and maintains the hardware, software, and data resources of various Data Center systems that may or may not be interconnected.
Initiates and monitors applications in accordance with the schedule, external priorities, special instructions and / or resource availability.
Provide hands-on interaction to ensure proper use of the monitoring applications for both, hardware and software components.
Provide hands-on interaction in the event of a hardware or software malfunction : identifies the failing component, notifies superiors, appropriate technical personnel and / or vendor for corrective action, works with staff members to diagnose and rectify the problem, restarts the corrected component
Ensure Incident and Change Management tickets are accurately processed using ITIL concepts and processes and properly follows up with all requests.
Generates and updates work tickets for all issues reported to, or by, the department or client.
Coordinate resolution efforts for mission critical Tier-0 applications : Notify team lead(s), Notify senior leadership, open / facilitate Teams call
Provides security measures to safeguard all departmental locations, and the data within them, from access by unauthorized persons.
Performs basic preventative and corrective maintenance on various devices and applications.
Assist in installing Data Center computing equipment under the direction of a Technical Coordinator.
Flexibility with working single person shifts and coverage for other shifts.
Essential Duties
1. Instructs and oversees computer operators. Maintains security of assigned area. Safeguards equipment and file information. 2. Identifies and reports hardware and software malfunctions. 3. Initiates corrective action or assists with diagnosis and correction of malfunction. Operates, controls, and maintains computers and related equipment. Transports input and output data. 4. Performs additional functions incidental to computer operation activities.
Required Education and Experience
Four years of related work experience, two of them in the same job family at the next lower level and high school level education, or two years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Required Skill / Ability 1 :
Experience providing hands-on support for enterprise, mission critical applications with 24 / 7 support.
Required Skill / Ability 2 :
Maintains a workable understanding of the operating characteristics of all applications and monitoring programs used and maintained by the department
Required Skill / Ability 3 :
Strong problem-solving skills. Demonstrates interpersonal and organizational skills. Good oral and written communication skills.
Required Skill / Ability 4 :
Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.)
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills :
Knowledge of various Data Center Configuration Management systems. Knowledge of ITIL concepts and ServiceNow, or like applications. Knowledge with monitoring systems including LogicMonitor, PagerDuty, and Dynatrace. Knowledge of document repository systems.
