The position as a Licensed Land Surveyor (Office-Based) is responsible for the technical oversight and preparation of surveying deliverables in support of land development, municipal, and infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include close collaboration with field crews, engineers, and clients to ensure the accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of all surveying documents. This role does not include department management or field responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the preparation of boundary, topographic, ALTA, subdivision, and construction surveys using data collected by field crews.
- Review and sign final survey documents including Records of Survey, Corner Records, Parcel Maps, Final Maps, and Legal Descriptions.
- Research and analyze deeds, easements, title reports, and other legal documents to support boundary determination and resolution.
- Process field data and perform quality checks to ensure compliance with state and local standards.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to clarify survey needs, provide technical insight, and support overall project goals.
- Prepare and review scope, approach, and budgets for proposals related to survey services.
- Oversee the organization and maintenance of survey project files and documentation for legal and archival purposes.
- Mentor and guide Assistant Surveyors in drafting, legal research, and survey calculations, supporting their technical development and project contributions.
Qualifications:
- California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in good standing.
- 5 years of experience in land surveying, including preparation of survey maps and legal documents.
- Strong knowledge of boundary law, mapping procedures, and California Subdivision Map Act requirements.
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey-related software.
- Experience coordinating with public agencies for map reviews and approvals.
- Passion for mentoring and supporting the growth of technical staff.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
