We are seeking a skilled Credit Underwriter to join our Finance team at Yamaha in Cypress, CA. As a Credit Underwriter, you will be responsible for researching and analyzing credit risks, assessing credit history, and approving or denying credit to potential consumers.
Responsibilities:
- Make timely decisions on applications, prioritizing response time, application volume, and approval quality.
- Optimize approval structures and handle rejections to maximize profits and foster strong dealer relationships.
- Maintain and establish connections with dealerships, educating them on YMFUS programs and policies.
- Initiate sales calls to capture applications and, where necessary, prepare written follow-ups. Respond promptly and accurately to internal and external customer inquiries.
- Analyze income documentation, perform verification calls on employment and consumer information, and review loan applications.
- Participate in testing and improvement of the loan origination software program.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma is mandatory; a BA/BS degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- At least one year of underwriting experience, preferably in subprime lending.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
- Solid understanding of consumer credit, federal and state regulations, and credit decisioning.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, organizational abilities, negotiation skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills.
- Results-driven with a high level of personal initiative.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, when necessary.

Compensation:
$56,290 to $99,060, with base pay determined by job-related experience.
