POSITION TITLE: ADP Day-Center Host
RESPONSIBLE TO: ADP Assistant Manager
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
This full-time, non-exempt position supports all aspects of the Any Door Place (ADP) Newberg Navigation Center. The ADP Newberg facility is composed of three essential elements: day center services to support basic needs, navigation center services to support quick resource resolution, and nightly shelter services. All programs and services offered out of the ADP facility are to assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Yamhill County, OR. Our goal at ADP is to assist households’ access YCAP services and resources in the surrounding area.
This position will be the primary touch point for guests accessing day-center services. Please note the day-center is designed to function as the “people’s living room”; therefore, hospitality and tactful verbal communication are key components of this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position will work closely with the unhoused population in both an office setting and shelter facility setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Create a positive team atmosphere providing quality service to clients, staff and volunteers through active listening, positive problem solving, and timely responses.
- Follow, adhere to, and advance all YCAP, Housing Stabilization Department program policies and procedures.
- Complete specialized trainings that meet OHCS Navigation Center funding requirements. This includes, but is not limited to: De-Escalation, Trauma informed care, Coordinated Entry, Non-Violent Communication, Harm Reduction, Fair Housing, Domestic Violence Support, and Mental Health First-Aid.
- Ensure all hard copy and electronic client files are updated, accurate, and in compliance with all City, State, Federal, and Private grant requirements.
- Assist with YCAP’s internal ADP file monitoring every quarter.
- Support agency activities and initiatives related to homelessness. This can include, but is not limited to: annual Point-in-Time count (PIT), Yamhill County Community Court, Service Integration Teams (SIT), Built for Zero (BFZ).
- Enter data and critical client information into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) on a consistent basis.
- Create a welcoming, comfortable and enjoyable environment for individuals and families accessing services at the ADP McMinnville Navigation Center.
- Assist with ADP program orientation and intake for new participating households.
- Implement all Program Agreement standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) during operation.
- Coordinate with ADP Support Specialist to help maintain program and facility daily log (i.e. staff, visitors, volunteer community partners on site; delivers etc.).
- Ensure all ADP guests check-in and check-out of program services and adhere to the schedule (i.e. laundry service, shower service, community kitchen, etc.). This includes the electronic check-in/out through the corresponding HMIS software system throughout the property.
- Ensure all day-center services are operating in alignment with the daily schedule organized by the ADP Support Specialist.
- Assist guests navigate the shelter facility.
- Mitigate general questions and concerns that arise from participating households, volunteers, and community partners to appropriate staff.
- Assist guests who need access to “basic needs” resources (i.e. socks, diapers, toothpaste, etc.) and survival supplies (i.e. tents, tarps, sleeping bags).
- Assist ADP Support Specialist keep an accurate inventory of supplies being distributed.
- Requires completion of food safety training.
- Maintain the over health, wellness and safety of the ADP facility. This can include calling emergency services if needed.
- Maintain the overall cleanliness of the ADP facility. This includes your personal workspace and/or areas you notice need attention.
- Drive to and from locations for meetings, trainings, and/or supplies. As times, this may include client transportation with another YCAP staff present. (i.e. driving a client to the DMV).
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- High school diploma and/or equivalent.
- Three years (or more) experience in a professional support job preferred.
- Experience with homeless service systems/ coordinated entry systems preferred
- Above-average skills using word processing, spreadsheets, database and publishing software.
- Excellent verbal and written communications, problem solving and team work.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with clients and staff from diverse backgrounds. This includes but is not limited to ethnic, religious, physical, sexual orientation, and mental abilities).
- Commitment to work as part of a team.
- Ability to adapt to evolving social situations, remain calm in stressful situations and self-regulate emotions while interacting with clients and staff.
- Must have a positive attitude when working with clients, co-workers and volunteers.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of client and organizational information
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects in a timely fashion
- Ability to pass drug/alcohol & background check and insurance check of driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, stand, kneel, walk and/or bend for extended periods of time. This position requires being able to navigate stairs comfortably. May lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
