POSITION TITLE: ADP Shelter Support Staff
RESPONSIBLE TO: ADP Assistant Manager
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
This full-time, non-exempt position supports nightly shelter operations at the AnyDoor Place (ADP) Newberg Navigation Center. The ADP Newberg facility is composed of three essential elements: day center services to support basic needs, navigation center services to support quick resource resolution, and nightly shelter services. All programs and services offered out of the ADP facility are to assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Yamhill County, OR. Our goal at ADP is to assist households’ access YCAP services and resources in the surrounding area.
This position works closely with the ADP Assistant Manager to implement clear Standard Operating Procedure’s (SOP) for participants at the ADP and to orient them to the shelter program.
The schedule for this position will be Midnight to 8am based on a split week schedule starting Saturday though Wednesday or Wednesday through Sunday.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position will work closely with the unhoused population in close quarters in a shelter environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Agency Initiatives
- Create a positive team atmosphere providing quality service to clients, staff and volunteers through active listening, positive problem solving, and timely responses.
- Implement all Program Agreement standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) during operation, and follow, adhere to, and advance all YCAP, Housing Stabilization Department program policies and procedures.
- Support agency activities and initiatives related to homelessness. This can include, but is not limited to: annual Point-in-Time count (PIT), Built for Zero (BFZ).
- Support YCAP’s Coordinated Entry system by implementing best practices for data input and tracking.
- Complete specialized trainings that meet OHCS Navigation Center funding requirements. This includes, but is not limited to: De-Escalation, Trauma informed care, Coordinated Entry, Non-Violent Communication, Harm Reduction, Fair Housing, Domestic Violence Support, Mental Health First-Aid, and safe food handling training.
Direct Client Support
- Orient all new clients and/or households to the ADP program and facility. This will include, but is not limited to: a verbal explanation of all on-site program policies and procedures, collection of client signatures when needed, and re-orientation if corrective action is appropriate.
- Mitigate general questions and/or concerns that arise from clients, volunteers, and community partners and elevate them to the proper staff if needed.
- Schedule available ADP services for clients accessing nightly shelter (i.e. laundry support, shower needs, etc.).
- Address and attempt to resolve issues that may arise involving one or more client and/or household.
- Drive to and from locations for meetings, trainings, and/or supplies. As times, this may include client transportation with another YCAP staff present.
Additional Work Tasks
- Complete daily tasks related to program support such as: updating daily log with critical information, administer client survey’s when appropriate, inventory maintenance, mail distribution, and maintain access and up keep to ADP’s basic needs resources (i.e. hygiene kits, survival supplies etc.), community kitchen (i.e. food delivery/distribution), and laundry room
- Data entry including: shelter entry/exit data and critical client information.
- Provide coverage at the ADP McMinnville Navigation Center when appropriate.
- Maintain the over health, wellness and safety of the ADP facility. This can include calling emergency services if needed.
- Maintain the overall cleanliness of the ADP facility and Complete and track maintenance requests when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- High school diploma and/or equivalent.
- Experience with homeless service systems and/or shelter systems preferred.
- Bi-lingual applicants preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with clients and staff from diverse backgrounds. This includes but is not limited to ethnic, religious, physical, sexual orientation, and mental abilities).
- Excellent verbal and written communications, problem solving and commitment to work as part of a team
- Experience in using word processing, spreadsheets, database and publishing software.
- Ability to adapt to evolving social situations, remain calm in stressful situations and self-regulate emotions while interacting with clients and staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of client and organizational information
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects in a timely fashion
- Ability to pass drug/alcohol & background check and insurance check of driving record
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, stand, kneel, walk and/or bend for extended periods of time. May lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
