Yamhill County has one regular full-time position for a Peer Support Specialist to work in the Community Support Services division. This position will work with multi-disciplinary teams and provide community-based services to assist individuals in accessing resources, addressing barriers related to their mental health, and practicing skills that promote recovery and wellness. Responsibilities include utilizing personal mental health experiences to provide mentoring and support; assisting individuals with utilizing recovery skills, providing linkage with local peer organizations and community resources, identifying strengths to achieve individual goals, and may provide both individual and group peer services. Candidates must embrace the philosophy of resilience and recovery, be a role model for persons receiving mental health services and have personal experience with and knowledge of recovery.

The Qualifications :
Must have a Peer Support Specialist certification from a state-approved program or the ability to obtain a certification within two (2) months of hire. An NPI number or the ability to obtain one upon employment, and a valid Oregon driver's license is required.
A successful completion of a criminal background check will be needed, the results of which may not be cause for disqualification.
The Candidate :
The Peer Support Specialist must be a self-identified current or former recipient of mental health services who embraces the philosophy of resilience and recovery, who is willing to be a role model for persons receiving mental health services, and ideally, have experience with an array of mental health services such as medication management, supported housing, supported employment, hospitalization, etc., and personal experience and knowledge of recovery. The successful candidate will have good written and verbal communication skills, general keyboarding, and computer skills (including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, a valid license to drive in Oregon, and must have excellent personal boundaries, organizational skills, and demonstrated honesty, accuracy, and integrity.
