Job Description
1st Shift, 7:00am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday
Starting Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Reports to QC Manager
Job Summary
Primary role of Quality Assurance Specialist is to work collectively with cross functional departments such as QC Lab, Production and Maintenance to ensure compliance within Yancey’s Fancy Inc. to meet both internal and external standards.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and maintain all contract service reports and communication for pest control.
Ensure PEM (Program Environmental Monitoring) is followed through to completion working with the QC Lab.
Collaborate with Compliance Officer for all Customer Complaint Investigations.
Assist in developing SOPS/Policies.
Participate in plant quality training (GMPS, food security, orientation, annual plant wide training).
Oversight of certifications compliance (3rd party audit findings).
Assist in managing internal audits.
Participate in all 3rd party quality audits and assist with distributing the results and follow up.
Maintain cooperative working relationships and communications with employees from all other departments.
Participate in Food Defense and Crisis Management effectiveness checks.
Review and oversee department pre-op inspection documentation review.
Manage external calibrations for production and QC lab equipment.
Follow up with pest control findings.
Open CAPA to lead investigations and manage Corrective Action Reports.
Assist in HACCP meetings and recalls/mock recall effectiveness.
Occasional onboard training and review of employee annual training relating to food safety.
Assist in annual review of Food Safety Management Systems Plan and Food Safety Plans.
Collaborate with Compliance Officer to assist with continuous improvement.
Able to occasionally help with lab related duties.
All other assignments set forth by management.
Job Requirements:
Must have GED or High School Diploma.
3 years working in manufacturing, food manufacturing and/or laboratory experience preferred.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or some science coursework preferred.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficient in relevant math skills.
Competency with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook.
Strong Organizational And Planning Skills With Team Focus Required.
Strong leadership skills and teamwork focus.
Ability to influence and/or work well with other levels of management.
Willing to perform all tasks when and where assigned and as changing situations arise.
Maintain professional and positive attitude and work ethic.
Must follow all Yancey’s Fancy GMPs and work consistently with all food safety, quality, allergen and sanitation requirements.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to bend, stretch, reach, grab, push, pull, hold and carry.
Lift up to 40lbs.
Standing, walking, and climbing
Must be able to handle varying temperatures per department. Varying temperatures are between 35 degrees to 80 degrees.
