Job Overview
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the production team, ensuring efficient operations, and promoting a safe work environment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Team Supervision: Supervise production team members performing production operations. Maintain thorough knowledge of team member handbooks, safety guidelines, rules, programs, and procedures.
- Orientation and Training: Responsible for orienting and training new team members on the safe and efficient operation of equipment. Promote good housekeeping practices among team members to maintain a clean and organized workplace.
- Safety and Health: Promote a safe work environment by implementing 5S practices, job rotation, and ergonomic work methods. Evaluate and recommend improvements to prevent injuries and maintain a healthy workplace.
- Performance Evaluation: Evaluate probationary team members based on attendance, performance, attitude, potential, etc. Recommend candidates for hire, promotion, demotion, transfer, or release.
- Staffing Management: Responsible for maintaining authorized staffing levels within the assigned department. Re-assign team members to eliminate unfavorable labor variances.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Understand and positively impact key measures, including quality, productivity, safety, cost, and morale. Balance these areas to achieve positive results.
- Process Improvement: Continuously analyze the assigned area of responsibility to identify improved methods of production, tool design, communication, reporting, cost controls, and recommend improvements to management.
- Compliance and Corrective Action: Observe production operations to ensure compliance with methods, quality standards, safety regulations, production standards, and efficient equipment operation. Take corrective action to eliminate deviations.
- Problem-Solving: Consult with team members regarding on-the-job problems, including low production, poor quality, poor attendance, tardiness, etc. Document problems and provide action plans to management. Take corrective action to resolve issues.
- Operational Analysis: Collaborate with the Plant Manager and management to study areas where cost standards are not being met. Determine causes and apply corrective action.
- Attendance and Time Management: Track absenteeism and time-keeping. Process required forms in a timely manner for payroll and human resources.
- Team Development: Develop a consciousness among production team members about the need for teamwork to achieve departmental and plant objectives.
- Culture Support: Support and carry out YFAI's management philosophy and vision. Promote the company's team signature and values through daily interaction with production team members.
- Lean Philosophy: Understand and promote YFAI's Lean philosophy and methods.
- Development and Coaching: Provide coaching and development to assigned production team members.
- Meetings and Communication: Attend safety, quality, and other meetings as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
