Job Title: Level 2 Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:
As a Level 2 Maintenance Technician at Yankee Casting, you will be responsible for more complex maintenance tasks, supporting the production process through advanced troubleshooting and repairs. You will work with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and HVAC systems to ensure maximum equipment efficiency and safety in aerospace and marine part production. Your role involves diagnosing issues, performing advanced repairs, and guiding junior technicians in maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Advanced Troubleshooting & Repairs:
- Diagnose and resolve more complex issues related to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and HVAC systems.
- Perform medium-level repairs, including replacing motors, gearboxes, sensors, electronic components, and HVAC components such as compressors and fans.
- Adjust, align, and calibrate machinery to ensure optimal performance for aerospace, marine, and HVAC specifications.
2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance:
- Conduct thorough inspections and advanced preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, belt replacement, equipment calibration, and HVAC system checkups.
- Use diagnostic tools to monitor equipment performance and predict potential failures before they occur.
- Maintain a robust record of maintenance activities, ensuring all logs are up-to-date for audits and compliance.
3. Operational Efficiency & Equipment Upgrades:
- Assist in identifying opportunities to upgrade existing machinery and HVAC systems to improve efficiency, safety, and performance in line with industry standards.
- Collaborate with the engineering team on equipment modifications and installations, providing input on machine design, usability, and HVAC integration.
4. Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations, particularly for high-risk equipment, including those used in aerospace, marine, and HVAC applications.
- Execute lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and ensure all maintenance tasks comply with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
- Support safety inspections and audits by providing detailed records and insights into equipment conditions.
5. Team Collaboration & Training:
- Provide guidance and technical support to Level 1 technicians, fostering a learning environment through mentorship and hands-on training.
- Assist in developing maintenance procedures and train production operators on best practices for using and maintaining equipment and HVAC systems.
- Participate in cross-departmental projects to improve production workflows and enhance machine and system reliability.
6. Documentation & Continuous Improvement:
- Complete detailed reports on equipment performance, noting repairs made and parts replaced.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve machine reliability.
- Proactively communicate with supervisors and production managers regarding equipment health, suggesting improvements where applicable.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required. An Associate's degree or technical certification in mechanical, electrical, industrial maintenance, or HVAC is preferred.
- Experience: 2-5 years of experience in maintenance, with a focus on manufacturing equipment. Prior experience in the aerospace or marine industry is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and HVAC systems, including experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
- Ability to interpret and work with technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools, as well as advanced diagnostic equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to handle complex troubleshooting.
- Basic knowledge of CNC machinery or other specialized equipment used in precision manufacturing.
- Familiarity with HVAC system components, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting best practices.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds.
- Regular standing, walking, climbing, and reaching in industrial environments.
- Tolerance for working in areas with noise, temperature fluctuations, and potentially hazardous chemicals.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, including occasional overtime or weekend shifts to support urgent production needs.
