Job Summary :
An independently owned golf course is seeking a skilled and passionate Golf Course Superintendent to oversee and participate in maintenance and care of the course. This role requires expertise in management, leadership, proper turf grass practices, irrigation, and mechanical skills to ensure top-notch playing conditions and a well-maintained facility.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Turf Management
a. Execute turf care program and manage daily duties
b. Monitor and maintain healthy turfgrass across greens, fairways, tees, and roughs
c. Identify and address turf diseases, pests, and other challenges promptly
2. Leadership and Team Management
a. Supervise and train groundskeeping staff to maintain high-quality standards
b. Collaborate with management to set budgets, plan projects, and ensure course goals are met
c. Foster a culture of safety and professionalism among the maintenance team
3. Irrigation and Water Management
a. Manage the irrigation system, including scheduling, operation, and repairs
b. Monitor soil moisture levels and adjust watering based on weather conditions
4. Mechanical Skills and Equipment Maintenance
a. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mowers, tractors, and other equipment
b. Maintain an organized inventory of tools, parts, and supplies
c. Ensure equipment is operating efficiently to minimize downtime
5. Course Maintenance
a. Plan and execute mowing schedules for all areas of the course
b. Maintain consistent mowing heights and patterns to enhance playability and aesthetics
c. Oversee bunker maintenance, trimming, and other landscaping tasks
Qualifications :
- Proven experience in golf course maintenance, turf management, or a related field
- Proficiency in operating and repairing mowing and irrigation equipment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and meet physical demands of the job
- Certification in turf management or a related field (preferred)
- Obtain and hold a current pesticide application license as required by federal, state and local governing authorities
