Quality Assurance Representative
1st Shift (7:30 AM - 4:30PM)
Southington, CT
Yarde Metals, a metals service center, is looking for an quality assurance representative to work out of Southington, CT operations. A Quality Assurance Representative provides operations and administrative support related to the quality management program and product conformance. As the QA Representative learns and acquires additional knowledge, skills, and job responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) for identified quality issues.
- Utilize ERP to derive details associated with quality investigations.
- Assist with implementing new quality initiatives, programs, and procedures.
- Participate in the material return process from initial request to final disposition and closure.
- Support the completion of customer surveys and compliance requests (conflict minerals, REACH, etc.).
- Verify supplier performance, update scorecards, and respond to corrective action plan requests.
- Provide internal and external customer service.
- Inspect material to ensure conformance to mill specifications and initiate mill claims.
- Support quality alerts, determine impacted customers, and work with sales and purchasing on communications.
- Prepare for and participate in ISO and AS9100 audits and customer supplier audits.
- Train to certify and support QC1, LCS, and Moog S275 oversight.
- Maintain proficiency in QMS (Quality Management System).
- Participate in export compliance trainings to provide backup for shipping documentation related to export orders.
- Update procedures, forms, and documents.
- Perform miscellaneous duties and special projects.
- Perform material handling duties in warehouse.
- Travel to various locations to assist with quality audits and requirements as needed (approximately 20% of the time).
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent, college degree preferred.
- Experience directly related to the duties of the position.
- Experience working in the metals service or like industry and knowledge of metals products is a plus.
- Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Must have a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to gather and analyze data to may sound business decision.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Must meet physical requirements of position.
- Some travel to locations to assist with audits.
