Job Description Job Description Yards Brewing Company is searching for a highly motivated Quality Assurance & Control Technician for our state-of-the-art QA / QC Lab in Philadelphia, PA. The role of the laboratory technician is to conduct daily routine analysis of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods. This position will handle completing daily tasks spanning the full spectrum of lab duties – microbiological testing, chemical analysis, and general laboratory tasks outlined below. The ideal candidate will have a BS in Biology or Chemistry and have had previous experience in a food or beverage manufacturing quality laboratory. This role reports to the QA / QC Laboratory Manager.Primary Functions / Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)Collect and perform routine physical, sensory and microbiological evaluation of : raw materials (process water, malt, hops, yeast etc.)in-process products (wort, green beer, bright beer, etc.)finished goods (packaged beer etc.)Effluent (wastewater, etc.)Assist in sensory training of brewery employees and conducting sensory panels.Record data accurately and communicate out of specification results to your manager and the appropriate process stakeholder promptly.Ensure that all corporate quality and safety protocols and procedures are being adhered to.Ensure that all requisite OSHA, GMP and local standards are complied with.Maintain clean and sanitary workspaces and analytical equipment.In collaboration with other departments, develop and implement programs or procedures that help strengthen the overarching corporate QA / QC practices.Desired Skills and Qualifications : Microbiological media preparation, incubations, and platingExperience working in a laminar flow hoodExperience with a microscope (dark field, phase contrast, etc.)Proven aseptic techniquesCollaborative, team playerA passion for beer and dedication to quality and detailB.S. in chemistry, biology or applicable disciplinesExperience with Microsoft Office products.
