What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Writer position at Yaskawa America Inc.?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create, revise and maintain technical manuals from beginning to final release.
- Research and compile technical data, illustrations, and operating information from appropriate Subject Matter Experts.
- Using Yaskawa Motoman manual template and Adobe Frame Maker, organize technical information into accurate, easily understandable technical manuals through clear writing, careful editing, consistent formatting, and effective placement of graphics.
- Create new graphics and/or modify existing graphics (illustrations) using Adobe Illustrator or equivalent software.
- Generate Table of Contents for manuals.
- Generate and edit Index for manuals in accordance with The Chicago Manual of Style
- Convert completed and approved manuals to Adobe Acrobat PDF format.
- Assist in creating/developing /maintaining Yaskawa Motoman intranet sites. Ensure the look and feel of these sites is consistent with the Yaskawa Motoman requirements.
- Localize Yaskawa (YEC) manipulator (and related) manuals for Yaskawa Motoman release.
- Complete other writing and editing assignments, as required.
- Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BA degree from four-year college or university and one to three years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer degree in Technical Writing, Journalism, English, or Communications.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Must be proficient in current versions of Adobe Acrobat, FrameMaker and Illustrator. Must work within tight and/or changing project deadlines. Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Must be able to openly participate/interact with other employees as a ream member.
