Yates Industries is looking for a 2nd shift Honing Operator in our Decatur, AL plant!
$2.50 Shift differential
Hours: 2:30 p.m.- 11:00 p.m. CST
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate Honing machine.
- Reviews blueprints, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Inspect parts to ensure they are made within print specifications.
- Prioritize work orders for timely completion to accommodate customer needs.
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements, troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Other duties as assigned.

Language Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to five years of mill/drill experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Strong mechanical ability.
- Able to hold tight tolerances.
- Able to use all micrometers, gauges & profilometer.
- Ability to mentor coworkers
- Familiarity with measuring tools like micrometers and calipers.
- Familiar with metal Honing materials such as 1045 steel, heat treat steel, hard chrome, 1020/1026 steel’s, stainless steels.
