What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator, Community Relations position at Yavapai Community College?
Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Community Relations, this position provides support to the AVP and the Community Relations unit.
Manages and coordinates the administrative and day-to-day affairs of the AVP, including scheduling, administrative processes, and other daily activities and events.
Supports and assists Community Relations departments, which include Athletics, Marketing, Government Relations, Immersive Technology, and the Yavapai College Foundation
Provide administrative support for administrators, coaches, and staff while operating within the scope of college policies and procedures
Coordinates general office functions within the community relations unit and performs high-level specialized tasks
Manages and supervises special projects
Maintains and fosters a supportive and working relationship with staff and community members
Performs difficult, complex technical office work that requires independent judgment
Assist with the planning and execution of events, including coordinating logistics, preparing materials, and communicating with participants as needed
Promotes the College internally and throughout the community at all communication levels while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality
Act as a liaison with other campus offices
Serves on campus committees and supports campus initiatives as appropriate
Manages communication to and on behalf of the Community Relations unit
Acts as the budget and travel liaison for the Community Relations division
Assists in preparation of annual budget, compiling data, recommending improvements and monitors and tracks spending
Manages space reservations and use for Community Relations
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Expectations & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience in higher education or related field
Ability to effectively represent the Associate Vice President and Community Relations
Skill in communication, customer service, and event management
Ability to gather, organize and analyze data for reports and other documents
Ability to research and resolve problems
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters
Skills in of Microsoft Office programs and products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and use of the Internet
Ability to prioritize work and perform complex duties involving the daily use of independent judgment relating to important Yavapai College matters
Knowledgeable in office management techniques, including English usage, spelling, grammar, composition, proofreading, punctuation, accuracy, and business letters/reports
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, students, and community members
Valid driver's license
Regular in-person attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability toward the performance of job duties
Preferred Skills & Abilities
Two years of administrative or supervisory experience
Knowledge of higher education principles and mission
Professional experience in a community college/higher education work environment.
