What are the responsibilities and job description for the Court Clerk II (Records) - Clerk of Superior Court (Prescott) position at Yavapai County Government?
The Clerk of the Superior Court is seeking to fill the position of Court Clerk II.
In this position duties will include assisting the public within the Clerk’s office Records Department, reviewing files to ascertain the status of cases, managing the post-conviction relief process, and preparing copies of digital recordings upon request.
Under general supervision, the Court Clerk II will perform specialized tasks of moderate complexity related to case processing and legal clerical duties for the Clerk of Superior Court.
- Creates new case files, generates notices, forwards file information to appropriate division; receives, labels, processes, stores, packages, tracks, disposes, releases, and routes exhibits and classified material; generates notices for appeals; prepares the record on appeal and transmits same to the Court of Appeals;
- Works with parties in person, in writing and/or on the phone; provides information and assistance to the public without giving legal advice; responds to inquiries from court personnel, judges, attorneys, and the public; answers calls; determines the caller’s need; forwards/transfers or takes messages. Provides clerical support and assistance as required.
- Works with and assists staff; revises and/or sends correspondence; picks up, delivers, opens, and distributes mail; makes photocopies, scans documents, operates fax machine, and provides other office and customer services support and assistance as required.
- Accepts and receives monies paid as fines, fees, bonds, and other financial obligations; issues receipt; and updates electronic and/or manual records.
- Verifies, enters, retrieves, corrects, and updates data in the court management system; retrieves files and documents. Receives and processes court related documents over the counter and electronically through e-filing. Issues warrants and process applications for bail bond agents.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of general office, administrative or clerical experience.
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effectively in-person, in writing and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
