Yavapai County Superior Court is seeking a highly motivated Deputy Court Administrator to assist in the oversight and enhancement of court operations.  This pivotal role involves supporting the Superior Court Administrator by planning, developing, organizing, directing, and coordinating a wide range of administrative and operational functions.  

The Deputy Court Administrator will manage key areas including personnel, fiscal operations, case flow, records management, court security, technology needs, and intergovernmental relations.  Will provide leadership by setting goals and priorities, establishing policies and procedures, and collaborating with various agencies to ensure efficient and effective court operations.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and programs and monitors the same according to court, county, and state requirements.  Performs a variety of high level administrative, managerial, supervisory duties, tasks, and functions in support of the day-to-day operation and organization of the department.  Participates in the implementation and evaluation of departmental automation projects.
  • Participates in staff development programs. Selects, plans, assigns, supervises, trains, and evaluates the work of subordinates. Conducts employee performance appraisals; assists in monitoring: job development, staffing, and interviewing. Ensures staff compliance with COJET requirements.
  • Coordinates various aspects of personnel operations including hiring, transfers, promotions and reassignment of staff, staff development, counseling and disciplining of staff. Resolves internal and external conflicts/issues in the management and administration of the court.
  • Represents Court Administrator as needed; serve as liaison with judges, court staff, clerk's office, other courts, agencies, attorneys, county departments and the public. Participates in and support local and statewide committees. 
  • Acts as designated Court Public Information Officer. Communicates relevant information to the court community, local justice partners, media, and the public
  • Maintains awareness of current issues in court administration. Researches, forecasts, and plans for future capabilities of court programs. Gathers, compiles, and analyzes activity reports to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of court and mandated programs utilizing COURTOOLS, AJACS, and other reporting tools. Analyzes, prepares, and presents oral and written reports. Develops new programs and strategies for implementation.
  • Makes budget recommendations and assists with the preparation and continued review as necessary. Participates in ongoing and annual budget planning. Oversees or compiles statistical data as needed for various reports.
  • Identifies and recommends methods to improve the functionality and operations of the court, involving enhanced work processes, increased court system responsiveness, efficient use of judicial resources, and quality service delivery.   
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Judicial Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, or closely related field. 

Experience:  
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in court management or administration, personnel management, caseload management, or information systems in a supervisory capacity. An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis. 

Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license. Must complete annual training as required by the Committee on Judicial Education and Training (COJET). Must successfully complete or be enrolled in the Institute for Court Management's (ICM) Court Management Program or Court Executive Development Program or similar Court leadership training within twelve (12) months of hire.

Salary : $84,830 - $108,158
