Under general supervision, performs routine work of moderate to extreme difficulty piloting the Sheriff’s Office fixed wing or rotary wing aircraft.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Pilots the Sheriff’s Office fixed wing or rotary wing aircraft on missions as assigned.Completes flight operations logs and other aircraft documentation as required.Conducts pre- and post-flight aircraft inspections.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: Knowledge of FAA rules and regulations.Knowledge of pre- and post- flight inspections.Skill in: Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone.Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.Listening and problem solving.Ability to: Ability to operate an aircraft in various weather conditions, both day and night.Ability to react promptly and effectively in emergency situations.Comply with all Administrative Rules and Regulations of the Arizona State Board of Education pertaining to Special Education.Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.Work Environment: The work environment is indoors and outdoors in varying weather and inclement conditions. Requires the ability to maintain mental and physical readiness required by the FAA. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically.
