What we are looking for:
Yazaki North America is looking for a USW (Ultrasonic Welding) Technology Engineer (CTE) – Center of Competence (CoC) to join the Connection Technology Team in Canton, MI. USW Technical Specialist responsible to provide connector/terminal technical support to engineering groups (Design & Release, Systems, etc.), functional groups (Quality, Manufacturing, USW Lab, Purchasing, etc.) for YNA customer programs both domestic and global. Review USW validation issues and provide suggestions or directions for resolutions. Apply the expertise to identify and define best practice and process recommendations. Provide training and mentor USW and W/H Engineers as needed.
What you will be doing:
- Answer and document component related questions to assist Engineers in wire harness design and manufacturing, and document the responses for support requested through the CoC SharePoint site.
- Establish technical USW validation methodologies with Yazaki global lab sites for all Yazaki connectors.
- Define a list of USW best practice and USCAR requirements for current Engineering designs.
- Establish a strong relationship with Business Unit Engineering, global USW labs, Manufacturing and other functional groups.
- Conduct technical review of terminal USW issues and provide suggestions & resolutions.
- Provide technical assistance to all quality and manufacturing groups for component related quality issue investigation and resolution.
- Train and mentor less experienced engineers.
- Create and revise work instructions, processes / procedures and presentations.
- Create and modify specifications and design guidelines.
- Act as substitute supervisor.
- Support any USW related issues such as specifications, terminal materials, tool manufacturing, test requirements, etc.
- Research USW issues, documents and present technical solutions.
- Analyze and apply the best practice, technologies and processes
- Develop/maintain training plan and training materials for developing new engineers
- Provide expertise to support other functional groups
- Support current corporate, customer and industry standards i.e. USCAR 38, USCAR 45, etc.
- Investigate new USW technologies with YC and other Yazaki affiliates.
What you will bring to the table:
- Degree Requirements: BSME or BSEE
- Minimum of 15 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 12 years with a master’s degree
- Ability to travel roughly 10% of the year
