This person will provide design work for Mechanical Design Department in supporting current projects, establishing the CAD/CAE tools base and future direction and professional development of the group associates. Maintain the database of the components used on the projects in the Electronics & Instrumentation department.

What We Are Looking For
Yazaki is looking for a Sr. Designer to join our Power Distribution team in Canton, MI. This person will provide design work for Mechanical Design Department in supporting current projects, establishing the CAD/CAE tools base and future direction and professional development of the group associates. Maintain the database of the components used on the projects in the Electronics & Instrumentation department.
What You Will Be Doing
- Creating detailed 3D parametric models and 2D drawings of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Performing calculations for dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements.
- Design according to company and ASME 14.5 (GD&T) standards
- Implementing best practices in the designing of molded plastic and sheet-metal parts.
- Perform design tasks without explicit instruction.
- Maintain CAD source data in product data management system.
- Collaborating with engineers and project managers to evaluate the feasibility of proposed projects.
- Analyzing design requirements.
- May give periodic technical guidance to less experienced associates or technicians assigned to work on common projects. / Provide assistance to the EIS associates on CAD related issues.
- Champion the development of working relationships between CAD group and other groups inside and outside the EI Department.
- At least 8 years of experience with an Associates Degree or 6 years of experience with a Bachelor Degree
- Extensive experience in Catia V5 (or similar) and Teamcenter applications in automotive or related industry.
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to clearly communicate technical information.
- Knowledge of international standards: IPC, JEDEC, EIAJ, IEEE, SAE, ASME etc.
- Skills in identification and resolution of complex problems.
- Creativity in developing new ideas, methods or approaches to assure enhancements in products quality and work performance for CAD group.
