Position Overview
The Summer Camp Assistant Director will support the Camp Director in overseeing the planning, organization, and execution of School of Rock’s summer music camps. This role is ideal for a strong leader with experience in music education, youth programs, or camp management. The Assistant Director will help ensure smooth daily operations, create a positive and inclusive camp environment, and assist in leading students through their musical journey.
Schedule & Hiring Timeline
- Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Camps run from June 9 – August 15, 2025 (flexibility to miss 1-2 weeks if needed).
- We are looking to hire in mid-May to allow time for training before camps begin in June.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Camp Director in managing daily camp operations and schedules.
- Help supervise and support camp instructors, ensuring they are prepared for rehearsals and student coaching.
- Oversee student progress and engagement, providing support and feedback as needed.
- Assist with song selection, casting decisions, and individual instruction when necessary.
- Help facilitate rehearsals, workshops, and other structured camp activities.
- Manage student behavior and maintain a fun, safe, and positive camp environment.
- Serve as a point of contact for parents, providing updates on student progress and camp activities.
- Assist in planning and executing the end-of-week performances for each camp session.
- Step in for the Camp Director as needed, ensuring continuity in leadership and camp operations.
- Help encourage campers to continue their music education at School of Rock by promoting future enrollment opportunities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 2 years experience in music education, camp leadership, or youth program management.
- Strong knowledge of music theory, performance, and working with young musicians.
- Leadership experience with group rehearsals, youth instruction, or team management.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to challenges and problem-solve quickly.
- Experience with coaching, mentoring, or leading students in an educational setting.
- A background as a performing musician (actively gigging, recording, or playing in a band) is preferred.
- College-level music training/education is a plus.
- Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and able to manage different learning styles.
- Must be available to begin training in mid-May 2025.
