Yeh and Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our Denver, Colorado office. You will support a wide range of geotechnical engineering projects across the United States, contributing to both routine and complex design and development efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geologic Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 4-6 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado or the ability to obtain one upon hire.
- Strong communication, analytical, and technical writing skills.
- Commitment to safety standards and protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Proficiency with geotechnical software (gINT, Slide, SLOPE/W, GeoStudio, Rocscience, LPILE, MathCAD, Microsoft applications).
Requirements
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate with technical staff, project managers, and subcontractors to execute field exploration programs, including geologic hazard assessments, challenging ground conditions, special permit conditions, geotechnical monitoring, and traffic control.
- Assess job and site hazards and develop Health and Safety Plans.
- Interpret geologic and subsurface data to inform engineering designs, analyses, and recommendations.
- Perform geotechnical analyses and calculations, developing recommendations for infrastructure and development projects (e.g., grading, slope stabilization, foundations, seismic hazards, retaining walls, earth pressures, and pavement design).
- Prepare technical reports, design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for review.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop engineering cost estimates, proposals, and project schedules.
- Lead geotechnical design efforts for structures like tieback anchors, soil nail walls, MSE walls, and landslide/rockfall mitigation.
- Provide construction observation and engineering support during the construction phases of projects.
Work Environment:
- Work outdoors in various terrains, weather conditions, and stages of construction.
- Periodic travel, including overnight stays, is required. The company provides a vehicle, per diem, and lodging.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
