Position Summary: The Custodian is responsible for performing specific cleaning duties to maintain a clean and aseptic environment throughout the Yellowstone Academy School . Duties include but are not limited including dusting, vacuuming floors, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning and restocking restrooms.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies in assigned buildings
- Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
- Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.
- Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
- Contribute to the strategic goals and outcomes of the agency as measured by the development and achievement of individual, departmental, and organizational goals and outcomes. Participate in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) goals of the organization both individually and as a team member.
- Deal constructively and helpfully with all other members of the organization.
- Fully support and model the mission and values of YBGR.
- Adhere to all policies, systems, safety requirements, and procedures of the organization.
- Take the initiative to identify problems and seek out solutions.
- Be a professional representative of the organization to those outside it.
- Participate and engage in monthly supervision/coaching meetings with the supervisor.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED
21 years old or older
License and/or Certification: License to operate passenger vehicles.

Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.
Physical/Environmental Demands & Requirements:
- Work environment: This position will work indoors in climate-controlled environment however will be exposed to elements in moving from building to building. May be required to work on and/or around slippery surfaces.
- May occasionally operate computer, keyboard, and other office equipment.
- Consistently needs to move about inside building, outside to include uneven terrain, changes in elevation, and frequently change body position from and to standing, kneeling, sitting, prone, and moving up and down stairs.
- Occasionally will be required to lift, carry, push, pull a variety of tools, equipment, and materials up to 30 lbs.
- Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors.
