Position Summary: At Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, we count on our Mental Health Workers to support a trauma-informed environment, facilitate, and supervise day-to-day activities of residential programming such as recreational activities, completion of basic living and social skills while assuring the safety of the youth. They serve as a positive role model and mentor to adolescents in treatment. A Mental Health Worker will possess a strong work ethic, reliability, and a desire to help youth with complex emotional and behavioral issues. They should have a passion for this field and be a positive role model and influence the youth.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Implement treatment programming and provide feedback for each child in the unit.
- Maintain a positive, safe, and therapeutic milieu in the treatment unit. Supervise youth at all times while teaching them coping and daily living skills.
- Complete proper treatment documentation on time and consistent with YBGR policies.
- Serve as a liaison to families and agencies responsible for youth in the unit, always providing professional customer service. Responsible for weekly contacts with families/agencies etc.
- Serve as a support person in the therapeutic treatment procedures (recreational, educational, spiritual, social, medical, etc.) assigned by the Program Manager.
- Design and implement psycho-educational groups to increase clients' knowledge and skills.
- Responsible/accountable to the treatment team and YBGR for overall program needs
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 21 years old or older
- Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.
- High School Diploma or GED

- Empathy and Compassion: Ability to empathize with the struggles and emotions of youth experiencing mental health challenges, and to provide compassionate care.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with youth, their families, and other members of the treatment team to facilitate treatment and support plans.
- Boundaries and Professionalism: Understanding of professional boundaries and ethical guidelines in mental health care, including maintaining confidentiality and respecting patient autonomy.
- Documentation Skills: Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records of youth’s interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with YBGR requirements.
- Demonstrate being self-motivated, self-disciplined, and diligent with forward thinking.
- Demonstrate the ability to think of their team over self and define success collectively rather than individually.
- The ability to effectively interact and communicate with others. These skills are essential for building and maintaining relationships, collaborating with colleagues, resolving conflicts, and navigating various social situations.

Salary : $19 - $21
