What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Accounts Representative position at Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch?
Position Summary: Generate revenue by billing A/R, making payment arrangements, collecting and monitoring delinquent accounts. The overall objectives are to process billing accurately and timely, working A/R with days outstanding less than 90 days, and to increase the financial health of the organization.
Starting Salary Range: $19.21 - $20.97 per hour. Salary reflects steps 1-5 of an 11-step pay schedule. The starting salary will be determined based on the applicant’s education and relevant experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and process contractual changes for re-licensing providers.
- Audit pharmacy bill and submit credits, audit encounter forms daily, audit all claims monthly. and process/audit Billings Clinic Lab invoices
- Prep daily psychiatric and medical visits and enter daily charges/diagnosis codes in the Electronic Health Record.
- Responsible for all billing and A/R filing.
- Process all electronic and paper billing transactions. Re-bill all claims as necessary.
- Process refunds, billing adjustments, all billing correction forms, patient statements and daily deposits.
- Mail and audit monthly patient statements, post payments to patient accounts and Dynamics.
- Work aging report to identify problem accounts.
- Contribute to the strategic goals and outcomes of the agency as measured by the development and achievement of individual, departmental, and organizational goals and outcomes. Participate in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) goals of the organization both individually and as a team member.
- Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Previous Professional Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of medical billing experience is preferred.
License and/or Certification: None
Competencies or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s)

- Intermediate knowledge of UB-04 and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) interpretation
- Intermediate knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 codes
- Intermediate knowledge of insurance collections and insurance terminology.
Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.
