Communication System Operators staff the center 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and provide the emergency communication services required to provide public safety to all Yellowstone Club Members, Guests, Employees, and Contractors.
Essential Functions (Major Duties or Responsibilities):
- Receives alarm calls, motor vehicle crashes, and other emergency incident information by telephone, radio, or DICE monitoring system from: PSP officers, Members, Employees, and government agencies or the general public using knowledge of report-taking procedures, ability to remain calm, and type quickly.
- Documents information related to the incident on an automated incident report system using knowledge of reporting procedures and computer skills.
- Dispatches alarm/incident information via the two-way radio system, telephone, or mobile data terminal to appropriate officers(s) or Firefighter(s) using knowledge of the radio system and skill in use of radio equipment.
- Types, updates, formats information into DICE’s automated files for officers and other departments.
- Communicates via telecommunications with user departments to assist in updating pertinent information.
- Enters and cancels information in the automated files, DICE.
- Must use the proper key functions to gain the correct formatted screen for the activity being performed.
- Requests and provides information from the automated files via the telecommunications terminal upon a request from PSP Officer/s or other authorized personnel.
- Performs a variety of other duties as assigned in support of the agency mission and objectives and Genetec video investigations.
- Ability to operate a computer terminal and peripheral equipment: multi-line phone system .

- Knowledge in the use of two-way radio dispatching equipment
- Dispatching and video monitoring experience
- Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) experience
- High school diploma or equivalency. No previous work experience is required but incumbent must pass Call testing.
- Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- The position is sedentary in nature with long periods of sitting or standing in a confined work area; however, dispatchers are required to perform some light lifting, stooping, and bending duties in the process of working with files and performing routine office duties. Dispatchers speak with highly emotionally charged, mentally impaired and unstable individuals and must be able to tolerate a high degree of stress and remain calm under emotional emergency conditions. Dispatchers work varied shifts, from days to nights and work holidays and weekends.
